College football: Georgia beats Arkansas, Michigan beats Wisconsin

Zamir White ran for two touchdowns and recovered a blocked punt for another score, and No. 2 Georgia beat No. 8 Arkansas 37-0 on Saturday in Athens, Georgia, in the Bulldogs' second consecutive shutout.

Georgia (5-0, 3-0 Southeast Conference) reached a 21-0 lead in the first quarter despite playing without defender JT Daniels, who suffered a right flank injury.

Stetson Bennett replaced Daniels and went for just 72 yards while the Bulldogs relied on their high-level running and defense play to beat Arkansas (4-1, 1-1).

Georgia, who lead the country in all-defense and goal-defense after a 62-0 victory at Vanderbilt last week, held Arkansas on 10 first downs and 156 yards.

The Bulldogs ran for 273 yards as they continued their committee approach to the running back. James Cook had 87 yards on 12 loads. Kenny McIntosh had 57 yards. Kendall Milton ran for 48 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown. White had 3 and 15 yard scoring runs. He finished with 68 yards in 16 runs.

No. 14 Michigan 38, Wisconsin 17

Cornelius Johnson caught Cade McNamara's two touchdown passes and the Wolverines remained undefeated with victory over Wisconsin, who lost quarterback Graham Mertz to a chest injury.

The Badgers (1-3, 0-2 Big Ten) trailed 13-10 and had the ball to start the third quarter when Mertz was fired by Daxton Hill in a third play to 9. Mertz and tight end Jake Ferguson went to the locker room with chest injuries after that play, and none of them returned to the game.

Once Mertz and Ferguson left, Michigan scored 25 consecutive points to put the game out of reach.

The Wolverines (5-0, 2-0) won Madison for the first time since 2001 by stopping Wisconsin's fast-paced attack, something Michigan has failed to do in recent seasons. Michigan had lost on each of its last five trips to Camp Randall Stadium.

McNamara had 17 of 28 passes for 197 yards. Much touted quarterback JJ McCarthy also played and made a 1-yard touchdown plus a 56-yard pass to Daylen Baldwin.

Mertz completed 8 of 15 passes for 115 yards with a touchdown pass to Chimere Dike before getting injured. Chase Wolf replaced Wolf and made it 3 of 8 for 52 yards with an intercept and touchdown pass to Clay Cuffiff.

Bijan Robinson ran to a career record of 216 yards with two green touchdowns and the Longhorns won their first Big 12 road game since accepting an invitation to join the Southeast Conference.
